Bluehill 3 v3.51 Now Includes Torsion Support

As mentioned in the previous posting for release 3.51, Bluehill 3 is now available for use on Instron static torsion systems.  The Torsion Application Module is intended for use on static MT Torsion models. The module includes the Torsion and Torsion Relax/Creep method templates which are suitable for creating twist to failure and twist to a hold level type test methods.  Such tests are often required for wire, fasteners, components and tooling.

Same Look and Feel

The Bluehill 3 layout and overall work flow are the same for torsion testing as they are for static tensile or compression testing.  Very intuitive and little ramp up time required for existing Bluehill 3 users.

Same Plugin for TrendTracker Database

Store torsion test results to the same trendtracker database for combined static testing results analysis.

Subtle Differences

A few subtle differences will be noticeable when running Bluehill 3 on a static torsion system.  For example, the transducer icons found in the console reflect torque and rotation measurements instead of load and extension.

And the General menu in the test method includes the option for setting the positive test direction.  This also correlates with the directional arrows on the rotary drive and productivity panel.

  2. Hi Anant

Control mode can be selected on the Test Control -->Test page of the method setup. The default control mode is Extension (crosshead position).
